The Transition to College Workshop

Dear Senior Families,

Throughout this school year we have offered workshops to help seniors choose schools, apply to college, and learn about financial aid.  All these efforts are coming to fruition as students use these next couple of weeks to make decisions about where they will continue their education.  While you are having these important discussions, we want to offer support as students make plans to leave us and move on to college.

We are aware that the transition to college is a challenging one.  Studies show that approximately 35% of students drop out of college in their first year.  The majority of those students left within the first six weeks.  The research suggests that students who do not make a successful transition often lack a realistic understanding of college life and expectations.  To help with this, we are offering a workshop to help students prepare for their new life as college students.

The Transition to College workshop will be held on April 1st, a Late-Start Wednesday, at 8 am in the Q-theater.  We are inviting any senior who plans to continue their education after high school.  Parents are also welcome to attend.  College is a very large investment; please consider investing some time in this informational session.

We hope to see you there!
